About Faithful City Morris Men

Faithful City is a revival side, founded in 1967. We are based around Worcester from whence comes our name. The motto of Worcester is: Civitas fidelis in bello et pacem , which means: The city, faithful both in war and peace . It earned this motto by managing to be on the losing side three times during the Civil Wars.

Most of FCMM's dances come from the Cotswolds - predominantly Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, but we perform several dances from Lichfield as well as Welsh Border Morris, which includes Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire. In addition, we have a rapper side who perform dances originating from the north east of England.

We dance at various local pubs most Wednesdays during the summer and take bookings throughout the year.  During the winter, we try to repair the shortcomings of our summer performances by practising every Wednesday at the Talbot at Knightwick (just off the Worcester-Bromyard road) An excellent hostelry that brews its own beer.
Traditionally Morris dances were only performed by men (although there are some exceptions), so FCMM is a male only side.

We are members of The Morris Ring which is the national association of morris sides in the UK, founded in 1934. If you want to find a morris side in your area, or just more about morris dancing, visit their web site.
